Its summer time and that means its time to start organizing your neighborhoods National Night Out block party.
National Night Out takes place Tuesday, August 5th, 2008 and was designed to accomplish four things. (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs (like Neighborhood Watch); (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnership; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
So how does your neighborhood participate in National Night Out?
· Make sure all your neighbors turn on EVERY outdoor light to send a message to the criminals that WE ARE WATCHING.
· Have a neighborhood block party/BBQ. What a great way to get together with your neighbors again!
· Have all your neighbors grab their flashlights and walk together around your streets to let people know that you’re taking a stand against crime.
· Register your neighborhood and activities with the police department. If your neighborhood is registered, the police department will come and make an appearance at your event and present you with a certificate.
Get your neighborhood ready to take a stand against crime and drugs, during National Night Out.
