another eyesore and potential safety concern

In addition to the condo conversation projects on Mollison, there is an even greater eyesore very familiar to those driving along Chase Avenue. Yes, I am talking about the world's slowest demolition project just west of Chase Elementary School.

The prevalent rumor I hear is that there is a small-scale demolition contractor that got the bid on the job, in part, because was able to recycle much of the material. However, there does appear to have been *any* progress on that site whatsoever since early May. There are broken windows, hanging boards and other loose debris. I am also concerned that vermin may find there way into the site -- which is not only next door to a large elementary school but also several homes.

Again this begs the question: Is the city empowered to enforce any proof-of-performance requirements upon the contractor? What sorts of available remedies are there to make sure the prpoject is finished and the debris removed from the site?

I highly recommend that you contact the City of El cajon's City Manager's Office and let them know your concerns. They will take the information and forward it the Building Division. Being that this is a "building/code compliance" issue, there is not a lot that law enforcement can do.

The City Manager's phone number is 619-441-1716.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Have a great day~

Looks like it's basically all torn down now...just cleanup left to be done.
