We had a fantastic "National Night Out Against Crime" neighborhood watch meeting tonight. Special thanks to Officer Howard who came to answer questions and talk about neighborhood concerns. Neighbors in the area learned about this website and have established this folder to blog information to communicate with each other. We will be using it to post information about what we observe around our neighborhood and around Kennedy Park. Thanks to everyone who participated. We made some tentative plans about some future meetings and organized to replace our neighborhood watch signs. Good things happening in this part of El Cajon.
A couple of neighbors will be walking around to houses in the next week or so asking if anyone wants to contribute to buying the new neighborhood watch signs. I will check to see who is contating your house and try to get that information to you.
Someone came to my house already and I contributed. I think we had another neighbor volunteer to order the signs and another person said they would put them up. How about the discussion we had about the first day of school. Need to be alert for speeding drivers and activity happening up at the end of the street by the park. Anything that looks drug related will not be tolerated. I know that Granite Hills will send campus supervisors over if ther is a problem.
School has started and I have noticed some truancy activity at the end of the street. I am finding that contacting the school directly about kids hanging out after about 9am on the street or at the park is helpful. You can call both the high school or the middle school. Both are interested and responsive about kids not quite making it to the campus. Anyone else noticing anthing else?
Neighbers north of Kennedy Park, Regarding the skate park. We know there has been an on-going problem with skaters in the park after hours. I just wanted to let you know, we have recently taken a zero tolerance stance and have cited eight (8) skaters so far and siezed their skateboards. We hope this will send a message to others and put an end to this problem. Your vigilance is appreciated. Please call ECPD if you see skaters in the park after hours. Thanks
