2008 National Night Out
June 2, 2008
2008 NATIONAL NIGHT OUT Are you interested in participating in the 25th Annual National Night Out, America’s Night Out Against Crime? On Tuesday August 5th, from 6 to 9p.m., neighborhoods throughout the City of El Cajon are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 25th Annual National Night Out. We are asking residents to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored by the El Cajon Police Department, will involve over 11,000 communities from all 50 states. In all, over 35 million people are expected to participate In “America’s Night Out Against Crime” on August 5th. National Night Out is designed to: Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships AND send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back! This is a great community event and gives you an opportunity to have your neighbors come out and get to know one another and show your support for our community. If you do sign up for this event, personnel throughout the El Cajon Police Department will stop by your community/neighborhood and say HI. You can do a block party, BBQ, pizza party, potluck or whatever you choose. Remember, food will bring people out! If you would like to sign your community/neighborhood up to participate or get more information, please contact Samantha Hook at 619-579-4227 or via e-mail shook@ci.el-cajon.ca.us Remember, you can make this a very successful event by getting everyone involved. Certificates will also be issued for your participation. More information to follow! On Wednesday, August 6th, please join Downtown El Cajon at the Cajon Classic Cruise car show located in downtown El Cajon. We will be celebrating National Night Out at this event as well. There will be different vehicles from the El Cajon Police Department on display, which includes our SWAT vehicle, 1942 refurbished Police Car and much more!
